When you don’t feel good, that’s your body or your intuition telling you that you need to change something. For that reason, it’s essential to realise that you should never ignore your negative feelings or try to fight them, instead, you should listen to them and then take actions that make you feel a little better.

In other words, accepting that you feel bad and exploring that feeling is necessary before you can truly feel good otherwise, you’ll just continue making choices that don’t really make you feel good.

When you don’t feel good, consider these 3 options:

  1. Change the way you look at things  – with food & exercise this starts with your reason why. Diet mentality reason is to look good/change what you don’t like about your body. This will never make you feel good because food and exercise are weight management tools and the actions you are taking are only means to an end; it’s what you have to do in order to achieve your goal. With a Feel Good Mindset, the only reason you exercise or eat what you eat is because it makes you feel good now.
  2. Change the way you do things – If changing the way you look at things isn’t working, then maybe the way you do them is wrong and that needs to change first. Most people push themselves far too much and need to slow down. Allow yourself to be a beginner and proceed one step at a time, at a pace that feels good.
  3. Change what you do – Sometimes, it’s neither of the above, just a simple fact that you’re doing the wrong thing. This happens a lot with a diet mindset because you do not listen to your body and your only goal is to find something that gets you the results. If you pick an exercise class or a way of eating just because you saw it on IG or it’s what works for others, without considering what you like, your personality, what your body needs and what feels good for you, then it’s no wonder you don’t feel great. The best thing to do in this situation is to just give up what you’re doing and find something that suits you better!
